Let me just get this out there right now. I have had the good fortune of having my dolls grace the pages of the Etsy Gift Guides in the years of Christmas/Holiday Past.It was wonderful, and I certainly don't want to take anything away from those who are there now. Congratulations GG shops! Well done.
I have to be honest...When I first saw the new holiday GG picks my first thought was, "Shoot! I was really hoping my pattern would make it this year". Who wouldn't want that sort of exposure?
But my second immediate thought was, "Why in the world did I not change my banner to reflect the holiday/gift giving season?" I mean really...a present is such an obvious symbol it makes me want to smack myself in the forehead for not thinking of this on my own.
Luckily after the smack, I got busy and I'm very pleased with the results. Well...Jon got busy but I ASKED him to make the changes so I think I'll take some credit too. Later today we are going to tweak my website: www.theluckypebble.com with the changes as well.
I am very aware that there are hundreds (perhaps thousands) of angry shop owners right now regarding the latest Etsy GG developments. I understand their frustration. Really I do, and I will not make light of their feelings. I can't say I understand Etsy's point of view because I have yet to see a response from them. That could change.
And if I'm going to continue in the spirit of honesty, I find that I am completely removed from the entire debate. I am up to my neck in custom orders, drafting patterns and promotion of MY website. I don't have time to voice my opinion anywhere but here and only for the duration of time it takes me to write this entry. (Oh...and I congratulated the GG shops on Twitter).
I think it has been an extremely rough year financially for many of us and I wish EVERYONE massive sales this holiday season.
So in closing, let me just say I will not voice my opinion of the GG issue, other than to say that I'm glad this incident reminded me to tweak the appearance of my shop. Still cannot believe I didn't add a present to my shop appearance until now but I'm just going to file this under "Live and Learn".
Happy Sales to everyone.
OH! Speaking of promotion, (and I was doing just that a couple of paragraphs up on this entry), I am offering a %15 discount on all dolls in my shop until Nov. 15th if you mention you found me on this blog.
